SeaWorld San Diego just announced that they will be changing their shamu shows in 2017. Meaning they will still keep their orcas in at their amusement park but shamu shows will no longer exist in that location. When the news came out that shamu shows were ending, everyone thought the orcas were finally for free. But sadly that's not the case, it's been said that the SeaWorld would replace their shamu shows with a more conservative and more natural habitat for their orcas. This action taken is only being done in San Diego and not their other locations. Why is only SeaWorld San Diego taking action only? CEO Joel Manby said that SeaWorld was responding to customer preferences in California. “They want experiences that are more natural. And experiences that look more natural in the environment,” he said. “It’s not universal across our properties.”
